Poetry III - Choices
Patience |
Be as patient as an oyster
When your loved ones
Rub you the wrong way
And you will become
A beautiful pearl
In their necklace of love

Pray For The Children
|
I gave Sammy five dollars for a bullet
to put in my Dad's old gun.
I wasn't going to use it.
I was just showing off, trying to look big.
But I guess I couldn't take anymore of
Johnny pushing me around,
in front of my friends.
I get enough of that at home.
I don't even remember pulling the trigger.
Then Johnny was dead.
My Grandma used to pray for me a lot.
It really helped.
But then she died.
I sure hope someone is praying for me now.

The Little Box
|
I'm plain and simple looking, that's true
I'm not even one of those expensive gifts
Most folks are partial to
And at first glance, I appear to be empty
But wait, please look inside me once again
And you will see I am filled to the very rim
With oodles and bunches of kisses and hugs
From the person who gave me to you
And blew inside me with all their love
So keep me beside you, ever so close
And if you feel anxious, lonely or discouraged
You have only to lift my lid
To release the contents
Made especially for you
A kiss on your cheek
As light as the touch of an angels wing
And a hug
That will keep on squeezing
Until your smile returns again
